Update: Returning to the program for the first time since 2015, John Mellencamp took the stage on Thursday’s “Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”

Mellencamp peformed “Easy Target” in the closing segment of Thursday’s broadcast.

The performance concluded an episode that also featured Michael Shannon and Meghan McCain.

In 2015, music industry veteran John Mellencamp performed alongside Willie Nelson on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”

This week, he returns to the program — and takes the stage on his own.

Mellencamp is the headline musical guest on Thursday night’s edition of the CBS late-night talk show.

Mellencamp’s performance follows host Stephen Colbert’s interviews with Michael Shannon and Meghan McCain.

Taped earlier in the day, the episode airs at 11:35PM ET/PT on CBS.
