Ratings: FOX’s “Lucifer” Rises, “The Resident” Makes Time Period Premiere

Ratings are in for FOX’s Monday night tandem of “Lucifer” and “The Resident.”

Monday’s “Lucifer” may not have drawn monster ratings, but it did outperform its past two episodes. It also posted one of the show’s best overall viewer marks of the season.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Monday’s “Lucifer” drew a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 3.78 million overall viewers.

The numbers top the 0.7 adults 18-49 rating and 3.11 million viewer mark drawn by the previous episode.

Given that said episode aired on New Year’s Day, it may make more sense to compare this week’s broadcast to the December 11 fall finale.

That comparison is also favorable, as this week’s episode topped that broadcast in both adults 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.8) and viewership (3.78m vs. 3.36m).

This week’s “Lucifer,” in fact, was the most-watched episode since the season premiere.

— “Lucifer” led into the time period premiere of “The Resident.”

The new FOX medical drama drew a 1.0 rating and 4.67 million viewers.

On the other hand, the numbers top those drawn by the “Lucifer” lead-in. The demo rating, moreover, earned “The Resident” a second-place finish in the timeslot (below only ABC’s “The Bachelor”).

On the other hand, they do not suggest that the show received a huge boost from Sunday’s special post-NFC Championship airing. It is unlikely Monday’s time period premiere would have done much worse had it been the actual series premiere.
