The week began with very sad news for the music community: Dolores O’Riordan, frontwoman for The Cranberries, died suddenly at the age of 46.
Fans celebrated O’Riordan’s life by revisiting some of her band’s most recognizable hits.
As of press time at 2AM ET Tuesday morning, three of those songs are in the Top 10 on US iTunes.
“Linger” is currently #4 on the all-genre sales chart, while “Dreams” and “Zombie” are respectively positioned at #6 and #7 (note: the latter two have been frequently flipping positions).
Fans are also purchasing complete albums. The “Stars: Best Of 1992-2002” compilation is #2 on the US iTunes album chart, while the “Something Else” acoustic collection is #5.
— The chart presence is even bigger in O’Riordan’s native Ireland. “Linger,” “Zombie” and “Dreams” occupy the Top 3 slots on the Irish iTunes chart. “When You’re Gone” is #7, and alternative recordings of “Dreams” and “Linger” are #9 and #10, respectively.
