“The Mayor” was originally set to return to ABC’s lineup this coming Tuesday.
That is no longer the case. The comedy has been pulled from the network’s schedule — and replaced with re-runs of “Modern Family.”
Nine of the thirteen initially produced episodes have aired. It is unclear when (or if) the remaining four will air on ABC.
What is clear, however, is that ABC will not be ordering any more installments of the comedy. It is canceled.
“The Mayor” starred Brandon Micheal Hall as an aspiring rapper who, in an attempt to gain publicity, ran for mayor of his hometown. He ended up winning — and accepting the position.
Shenanigans ensued.
The premiere received solid marks from critics, but it drew a disappointing 1.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic.
The show fell in subsequent weeks; no post-premiere episode, in fact, even reached a 1.0 in the demo.
