“The Greatest Showman” Soundtrack Dominates US Sales Race, Will Take #1 On Billboard 200

The buzzy soundtrack improves to #1 on the US album charts.

Making good on industry projections, “The Greatest Showman” won this week’s US album sales and consumption races.

According to Hits Daily Double and BuzzAngle, the buzzy soundtrack sold approximately 78,021 pure US copies during the December 29-January 4 tracking period.  The count convincingly ranks as the week’s best sales total.

With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, the soundtrack generated about 105,523 in overall consumption units.

Due Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data may differ slightly from that reported by Hits and BuzzAngle.  The discrepancies should not, however, affect the album’s chart positioning.

The pure sales figure will yield #1 on Top Album Sales, while the consumption figure will be enough for #1 on the Billboard 200.
