Awards season is upon us, which means there will be an ample supply of red carpet looks to assess, ridicule and admire.
While E! will surely offer plenty of red carpet coverage across its various news programs, it is not only interested in this year’s looks.
With its new “Red Carpet Icons” series, the network is also planning to celebrate some of the iconic looks of past awards ceremonies.
The network announced four iterations of “Red Carpet Icons.” Two will focus on specific awards shows, while two will celebrate individual fashion icons.
The series will begin with “Red Carpet Icons: Golden Globes” – 10PM ET/PT on January 5.
“The Golden Globes marks the return of awards season, and this E! special is ready to show off the 20 best and brightest stars to ever walk the Globes red carpet, from Lady Gaga and her glamorous debut in Atelier Versace to Julia Roberts dressed in a daring Giorgio Armani pant suit,” says E!.
January 26 will feature two episodes, both centered on particular stars.
“Red Carpet Icons: Rihanna” will air at 10PM ET/PT, while “Red Carpet Icons: Beyonce” is set for 10:30PM ET/PT.
Rihanna shines bright in an E! special that highlights her 10 most unforgettable style moments and showcases her mastery of both high-fashion and street style to cement her place as a trendsetter and red carpet icon,” says E! of the former special.
“Beyoncé shows that she is flawless when it comes to fashion in an E! special that features her 10 fiercest and most captivating style moments, including favorites from The Grammys, Met Gala and Academy Awards,” adds the network regarding the Beyonce-centric episode.
The fourth installment will have a broader, awards-driven focus: “Red Carpet Icons: Academy Awards” – 10PM ET/PT on March 2.
“E! breaks down the Academy Award’s 20 most legendary looks to ever grace Hollywood’s biggest red carpet, with A-list highlights that include Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar debut in Christian Dior Couture to Charlize Theron glistening in Tom Ford for Gucci to Halle Berry in her iconic Elie Saab gown,” reads the official synopsis.
