U2’s “Songs Of Experience” is set to debut at #1 on this week’s Billboard Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts.
According to Hits Daily Double, “Songs Of Experience” is expected to sell 165-175,000 pure US albums this week. The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) should yield a first-week consumption total of 170-180,000 units.
The pure sales figure should be enough for #1 on Top Album Sales, while the latter should earn “Songs Of Experience” the pinnacle position on the Billboard 200.
In addition to the enthusiasm one would expect for a new U2 album, “Songs Of Experience” is benefiting from a concert ticket/album bundle promotion (albums redeemed as part of the bundle count as sales).
U2’s album will seize the US album crown from Taylor Swift’s “reputation.” After spending the past three weeks at #1, “reputation” is expected to fall to #3 on this week’s Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts. Hits expects “reputation” to sell another 60-65,000 pure US copies and generate another 99-104,000 total US units during the tracking period (the first week in which all tracks are available on streaming services).
Projected for 110-120,000 pure US sales and 120-130,000 total US units, Chris Stapleton’s “From A Room, Volume 2” should debut at #2 on Top Album Sales and the Billboard 200.
Pentatonix’s “A Pentatonix Christmas” will likely take #4 on both charts. The hit holiday album is on track to sell 47-50,000 pure copies and generate 66-70,000 total units this week.
