Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be” Issued To Country Radio

The song recently entered the Top 5 on the US iTunes sales chart.

Bebe Rexha’s “Meant To Be (featuring Florida Georgia Line)” impacted pop radio in late October. It currently holds a Top 40 position at the format.

Thursday, it was issued to country radio.

News of the country radio delivery comes following the song’s ascent into the Top 5 on the US iTunes sales chart. “Meant To Be” went as high as #4 on the chart earlier Thursday; it is #5 as of press time at 9:40PM ET.

“Meant To Be” may feature a superstar country duo, but it was not initially envisioned as a country radio offering.

“Some of the coolest moments for us have been the ones we never planned. Going into the writing session that day in LA, we had no idea that it would turn into this,” says Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard. “Seeing how the fans are connecting to the vibe and message of ‘Meant to Be’ has been really amazing.”

“Our passion is our craft, every step along the way from the songwriting, to recording, to hearing our music over the airwaves,” adds FGL’s Brian Kelley. “And, to know that our fans have been requesting this song and we can now share it with everyone is meant-to-be on a whole new level.”

While Florida Georgia Line’s label (Big Machine) was involved in servicing the track to the country format, the radio version positions Rexha as the lead artist and FGL as the featured act.

(That, it should be noted, is also the dichotomy currently being used on iTunes and YouTube; some early references to the track listed Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line as co-leads)
