Last week, news broke that a Taylor Swift performance would be airing during Thursday’s “Scandal” — just hours before her new album “reputation” goes live.
Save for confirmation that Swift would be performing a brand new song (as in, not one of her previously released “reputation” tracks), few other details were provided.
Clarity finally came Thursday, when ABC revealed that Swift performs “New Year’s Day” in the segment.
The performance was filmed in the living room of the superstar’s Rhode Island house.
“The intimate performance was filmed in the living room of her Rhode Island home with more than 100 fans in attendance for a secret session in support of reputation and marks the singer’s first television appearance in promotion of her sixth studio album,” says the ABC press release.
A three-minute performance video will air during a “Scandal” commercial break. That show airs from 9-10PM ET.
A four-minute, extended version of the performance will then be featured on Freeform at 9PM ET Friday (during a screening of “The Duff”).
