Garth Brooks Confirms He Lip Synced During CMA Awards

The Entertainer of the Year admits he lip synced his CMA Awards performance.

The 51st CMA Awards ceremony concluded with Garth Brooks winning the award for Entertainer of the Year.

Many fans, however, are talking about a different moment from the show.

Earlier in the show, Garth Brooks performed his hit single “Ask Me How I Know.” Viewers immediately took to social media with accusations that he was lip-syncing.

Speaking to reporters backstage, Brooks confirmed the suspicion.

“We made a gametime call on whether to sing to a track or lip-sync,” said. “And we decided to lip-sync it.”

The iconic country artist, who is coming off a stretch of concerts in Washington, confirms that he arrived at the CMA Awards sick — and with a struggling voice.

“My voice just isn’t going anywhere, and we wanted to represent country music the best we can,” added Brooks regarding his decision to lip-sync.
