FOX’s “The Orville” Has Been Renewed For Season Two

“The Orville” has earned a second season at FOX.

On the heels of its best regular timeslot performance yet, “The Orville” has earned a second season renewal.

FOX confirmed the news in a Thursday morning press release.

“Once again Seth has struck a powerful chord with viewers,” said FOX’s Michael Thorn. “He has delivered a series full of optimism, drama and his trademark humor. We want to thank him and the rest of the talented cast, as well as the producers and crew, for an incredible first season. We can’t wait to see where The Orville travels in the second.”

Benefiting from NFL lead-in support and strong delayed viewership numbers, the pilot ranked as FOX’s most-watched series premiere since the first episode of “Empire.”

Viewership naturally fell when it relocated to its regular Thursday timeslot, although the live+same-day (and delayed) numbers have still been very solid by 2017 television standards.

Last Thursday’s episode, as noted, set timeslot highs in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.
