Ratings: “The Orville” Returns With Best Thursday Performance Yet

“The Orville” delivered its best in-timeslot numbers of the season.

Off last week, FOX’s “The Orville” returned with an original episode Thursday night.

The episode delivered the show’s best marks since moving to its regular timeslot.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Thursday’s “The Orville” drew a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 4.15 million overall viewers.

The numbers top the 1.0 rating and 3.37 million viewer mark drawn by the previous episode on October 12.

They, moreover, top those posted by any previous Thursday airings. Only the first two episodes — which aired out of FOX’s Sunday football coverage — drew stronger numbers.

Promotion during FOX’s World Series coverage may deserve some credit for the uptick.

In terms of performance against timeslot competition, “The Orville” trailed CBS’ “Thursday Night Football” and NBC’s comedies but topped ABC’s “Scandal” and The CW’s “Arrow” among adults 18-49.

— FOX led into “The Orville” with “Gotham.” It drew a 0.9 rating and 2.83 million viewers.

Last week’s episode posted a 0.9 rating and 2.75 million viewers.
