On the one hand, Monday’s season thirteen “The Voice” premiere fared quite well by conventional television standards. It was one of Monday’s most-watched programs.
On the other hand, it was the show’s lowest-rated season premiere yet.
According to final broadcast data posted by Showbuzz, Monday’s “The Voice” drew a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 10.57 million overall viewers.
The adults 18-49 rating was the lowest ever posted by a “Voice” season opener. The viewership figure was the lowest for a formal season premiere (it did, however, narrowly top the mark set by the special summer preview that aired ahead of the eleventh season).
Season twelve of “The Voice” opened with a 3.1 rating and 13.03 million viewers this past spring. The actual eleventh season premiere drew a 3.3 rating and 12.10 million viewers last September.
To its credit, the competition was not light Monday. “The Voice” aired opposite a Monday Night Football game that featured the Dallas Cowboys as well as the highly rated premieres of “The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon.”
“The Voice” was Monday’s #3 broadcast network show in the adults 18-49 demo (below the aforementioned CBS comedies) and the #4 broadcast network show in overall viewers (below the comedies and ABC’s “The Good Doctor”).
— Monday’s “The Voice” led into “The Brave,” which drew a 1.3 rating and 5.96 million viewers for its series premiere.
