“The Handmaid’s Tale” Claims Emmy Award For Outstanding Drama Series

The Hulu series took home the night’s biggest prize.

While there are several “outstanding series” awards, the trophy for Outstanding Drama Series is generally viewed as the top prize at the annual Emmy Awards ceremony.

This year, it went to the hit Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

The trophy was issued moments after star Elisabeth Moss won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” beat out several popular, critically acclaimed series: “This Is Us,” “Better Call Saul,” “Stranger Things,” “House Of Cards,” “Westworld,” and “The Crown.”

— “The Handmaid’s Tale” also won for Outstanding Supporting Actress (Ann Dowd), Outstanding Writing (Bruce Miller) and Outstanding Directing (Reed Morano).
