L+SD Ratings: “American Horror Story: Cult” Sinks In Week Two, Still Leads Cable In A18-49

“AHS: Cult” took a big hit in week two, but it remained cable’s top-rated Tuesday original.

“American Horror Story” seasons have historically endured big live+same-day losses in week two.

“AHS: Cult” was not immune to that drop. It, in fact, suffered a particularly sharp second-week loss.

According to L+SD data posted by Showbuzz, Tuesday’s “AHS: Cult” drew a 1.24 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 2.38 million overall viewers.

The numbers each trail last week’s marks (2.02 rating, 3.93 million viewers) by 39%.

The drops were the biggest second-week losses ever recorded by the show. Last year’s “AHS: Roanoke,” which previously held that distinction, fell by 36% in both columns.

Despite the sharp week-over-week decline, “AHS: Cult” comfortably ranked as Tuesday’s top cable original in adults 18-49. It did, however, cede its cable viewership crown. several programs posted greater live+same-day audience totals.

Both numbers are nonetheless strong by conventional cable standards.

FX, moreover, stresses that it does not evaluate shows based on linear, live+same-day ratings in today’s age of streaming and DVR viewership. “AHS” tends to receive huge lifts from time-delayed and multi-platform viewership.
