Mayweather vs. McGregor Fight Tracking Near All-Time PPV Buyrate Record

The mega-fight is set to post a buyrate in the mid-to-high 4 million range. It may break the record.

It was widely assumed that last Saturday’s Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight would rank as one of the top two events in US pay-per-view history.

The question was whether it would claim the top spot.

Based on available data, it will definitely come close. Showtime says that the fight’s PPV buyrate is tracking in the mid-to-high 4 millions. The all-time record, set by the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight, is 4.6 million.

“If we don’t reach the record, we’re going to be very, very close,” said Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza. “We consider it a massive success.”

Final numbers are due next week.

Saturday’s fight pit undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather against top UFC draw Conor McGregor. Mayweather entered the fight looking for his 50th win, while McGregor was making his professional boxing debut.

Mayweather won via 10th round TKO.
