Maroon 5 & SZA’s “What Lovers Do” Closed Wednesday With 1516 Pop Radio Spins, 559 Hot AC Spins

Maroon 5 & SZA’s “What Lovers Do” had a big opening day at US pop radio.

By the conclusion of its first full day in the market, Maroon 5’s “What Lovers Do (featuring SZA)” had amassed a substantial amount of airplay at pop and hot adult contemporary radio.

According to Mediabase, “What Lovers Do” closed Wednesday with 1,516 spins at pop and 559 spins at Hot AC.

“What Lovers Do” received some airplay Tuesday night (it bowed prior to midnight in non-Eastern time zones), but the overwhelming majority of its spins came Wednesday.

The pop radio spin total positions “What Lovers Do” at #28 on Mediabase’s building chart, which ranks songs based on airplay for the first four days of the August 27-September 2 tracking week. It takes #25 on the building Hot AC chart.

In addition to the enthusiasm one would expect for a new Maroon 5 single, “What Lovers Do” benefited from hour airplay at iHeartMedia stations.

Since it will not receive that kind of support on Thursday, Friday on Saturday, it will not receive as many spins on those days.

It will still receive some support, and it will definitely earn prominent spots on this week’s official pop and Hot AC airplay charts.
