“Hitman’s Bodyguard” Leads US Friday Box Office; “Logan Lucky” Takes #3

“The Hitman’s Bodyguard” positions itself for a victory at the US weekend box office.

New release “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” ranked as Friday’s #1 film in the United States. It should have no trouble retaining its lead through the end of the weekend.

The Samuel L. Jackson/Ryan Reynolds vehicle earned $8.0 million in Friday receipts (with Thursday previews included). Its closest competition came from “Annabelle: Creation,” which added $5.0 million to its haul.

Based on those Friday figures, the two films should post weekend totals of $18-22 million and $13-17 million, respectively. They will claim first and second place on the US weekend box office chart.

Credited with $2.8 million, new release “Logan Lucky” grabbed third place at the Friday box office. “Dunkirk” took fourth with $2.0 million, while a daily gross of $1.7 million positioned “The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature” as the day’s #5 film.
