Ratings: “Game Of Thrones” Drops From S7 Premiere, Still Dominates; “Ballers” Premiere Rises

Sunday’s “GoT” was the second-most-watched episode yet. “Ballers” was up from last year, and “Insecure” hit a high.

No, Sunday’s “Game Of Thrones” did not do as well as the seventh season premiere.

It did, however, outperform all but one other episode in adults 18-49. It was the franchise’s #2 all-time performer, meanwhile, in overall viewership.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s “Thrones” drew a 4.33 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 9.27 million overall viewers.

The adults 18-49 rating is the show’s third-best on record — only last week’s season seven premiere (4.71) and the sixth season finale (4.35) fared better in the demo.

The viewership figure trails only last week’s season premiere (10.11 million) as the show’s second-best ever.

Sunday’s “Game Of Thrones” was the night’s #1 telecast (cable or broadcast) in adults 18-49, viewership and many other metrics.

— Benefiting from the strong “Thrones” lead-in, the third season of “Ballers” predictably enjoyed a huge year-over-year increase.

This Sunday’s episode drew a 1.22 adults 18-49 rating and 2.48 million overall viewers. Last season’s premiere posted a 0.79 rating and 1.59 million in total viewers.

“Ballers” led into “Insecure,” which scored a 0.55 rating and 1.12 million viewers. Both numbers rank as clear series highs.
