“Transformers: The Last Knight” Wins US Friday Box Office, But Sets Franchise Low

“The Last Knight” led the Friday box office but posted a soft number by “Transformers” standards.

The good news? “Transformers: The Last Knight” comfortably led the US Friday box office — and is poised for a weekend victory.

The bad news? It is off to a very slow start by franchise standards.

After grossing $23.8 million in its first two days, “Transformers: The Last Knight” added $13.7 million Friday (yielding a cume of $37.5 million).

The $13.7 million figure is by far the lowest opening Friday figure for the “Transformers” series. It puts “The Last Knight” on track for a $38-$45 million three-day weekend tally, which will also be a clear “Transformers” low.

Still, “Transformers” was solidly ahead of the Friday pack.

“Cars 3,” the #2 film, added $7.6 million to its haul. “Wonder Woman” was #3 with $7.4 million.

“47 Meters Down” ($2.3 million. #4) and “All Eyez On Me” ($1.9 million, #5) completed the Friday Top 5.
