Artists For Grenfell’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” Debuts At #1 On UK Singles Chart

The benefit single ranks as the UK’s #1 song.

Powered by a mammoth sales performance, Artists For Grenfell’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” predictably debuts at #1 on this week’s Official UK Singles Chart.

The benefit single, which features a myriad of big-name artists, seizes the throne from Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito (featuring Justin Bieber),” which slips to #2 after six consecutive weeks on top.

“Bridge” did not debut until Wednesday morning, which means this week’s #1 debut is based on fewer than 48 hours of activity.

The activity in that window was massive, however. The Official UK Charts Company confirms that “Bridge” generated 170,360 units during the tracking week, with almost 169,000 coming from paid downloads.

DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts (featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller)” debuts at #3, while Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down (featuring Quavo)” holds at #4. Down two places, French Montana’s “Unforgettable (featuring Swae Lee)” claims #5 on this week’s listing.

Other notables from this week’s Top 40:
— Little Mix’s “Power (featuring Stormzy)” rises three spots to #10.
— Camila Cabello’s “Crying In The Club” rises three places to #20.
— Calvin Harris’ “Feels (featuring Pharrell, Katy Perry & Big Sean)” enters at #21.
— Sigala’s “Came Here For Love (featuring Ella Eyre)” rises three spots to #23.
— Selena Gomez’ “Bad Liar” jumps twenty spots to a new peak of #33.
