Syfy’s “Blood Drive” Ratings Drop In Week Two

Episode two of “Blood Drive” was down 25% in week two — but still decent by Syfy standards.

Airing without a strong, compatible lead-in or premiere week curiosity, Wednesday’s “Blood Drive” predictably fell from last week’s series opener.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Blood Drive” drew a 0.18 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 627,000 overall viewers.

Last week’s episode drew a 0.24 in the demo and 834,000 in overall viewership.

That episode, however, aired out of a screening of “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Not simply a solid ratings performer (0.27 rating, 981,000), the film was very compatible with “Blood Drive” from a conceptual standpoint.

This week’s “Blood Drive” led into a fairly compatible movie (“Death Race 2050”) rather than out of one.

While a 25% week-over-week drop is certainly not something to celebrate, this week’s numbers are not bad by Syfy standards. This week’s “Blood Drive,” in fact, outdrew most first season episodes of Syfy originals like “Van Helsing” and “Wynonna Earp.”

The question is whether “Blood Drive” will be able to stabilize in this range. Some shows, after all, endure several weeks of declines before finding a stabilization point.
