Ratings: CMT Music Awards Viewership Falls From Last Year

The 2017 CMT Music Awards ceremony drew fewer viewers than the 2016 edition.

Despite being simulcast on an extra network, the 2017 CMT Music Awards ceremony drew a smaller audience than the 2016 edition.

Granted, the 2017 show did face stiffer competition in its latter 93 minutes.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s ceremony drew a 0.32 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 1.034 million viewers on CMT.

Simulcasts on Nick (0.18, 0.701 million), Spike (0.18, 0.529 million) and TV Land (0.08, 0.510 million) yielded totals of 0.76 in the demo and 2.774 million in viewership.

The 2016 show, which did not have a Spike simulcast, drew a combined 0.97 rating and 3.33 million viewer mark across CMT, Nick and TV Land.

— Competition from the NBA Finals, it should be noted, was stronger this year. Last year’s latter 82 minutes — and this year’s latter 93 minutes — aired opposite basketball.
