Report: Katy Perry Making $25 Million To Judge “American Idol”

Katy Perry reportedly scores a massive “American Idol” pay day.

Most assumed Katy Perry would be receiving big bucks to judge the upcoming “American Idol” season.

Few suspected her payout would be this big.

According to TMZ, Perry will reportedly receive $25 million for the upcoming season. The staggering figure blows away the $15 million/season that former judge Jennifer Lopez reportedly made during her time on the show.

“American Idol” confirmed Perry’s involvement during ABC’s upfront presentation last Tuesday. Pressure to secure a judge by that presentation likely helped boost Perry’s offer.

“Katy had all the leverage,” a source told TMZ. “If ABC ended up announcing the show without a judge, they’d be screwed.”

Five years ago, TMZ reported that Perry rejected a $20 million offer to judge “Idol.” Both Perry and the franchise had higher profiles at that point.

The sixteenth season of “American Idol” — and first on ABC — will air in the spring of 2018.
