Paramore’s “After Laughter” Tops US Projection, Machine Gun Kelly’s “Bloom” Comes In Low

“After Laughter” will actually debut higher on the Billboard 200. Mid-week projections said otherwise.

At mid-week, Hits Daily Double projected that Paramore’s “After Laughter” would post 50-55,000 in pure first-week US sales. With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, the album was expected to generate 55-60,000 in total US consumption units.

It meanwhile projected a 35-40,000 pure sales figure and 65-70,000 consumption figure for Machine Gun Kelly’s “Bloom.”

While its pure sales figure landed within the anticipated range, the Paramore album ended up beating the consumption projection. MGK’s album, meanwhile, fell slightly short of the pure sales projection and markedly shy of the consumption projection.

According to BuzzAngle and Hits, Paramore’s album sold approximately 54,720 pure US copies during its first week of release. Its consumption figure, meanwhile, clocks in at around 65,984 units.

“Bloom” meanwhile sold ~34,531 pure albums and generated ~49,395 in consumption.

Based on the aforementioned numbers, “After Laughter” is #4 on the weekly pure sales chart and #5 on the consumption chart. “Bloom” is #6 on the former and #8 on the latter.

Due Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data will differ slightly from that reported by BuzzAngle. The discrepancies should not, however, be enough to majorly affect chart positioning. “After Laughter” is a strong bet for a Top 5 debut on Top Album Sales (pure sales) and the Billboard 200 (consumption), while “Bloom” should be #6 on Top Album Sales and between #7 and #9 on the Billboard 200.
