Soundgarden, Audioslave Songs Rise On iTunes Sales Chart Following Chris Cornell’s Death

“Black Hole Sun” enters the Top 10; “Like A Stone” reaches the Top 15.

Thursday morning, the music community was gutted with the news that Chris Cornell died. He was 52.

As news of his passing spread, music fans reacquainted themselves — or acquainted themselves — with his music. Key songs by Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple Of The Dog, three bands he fronted, soared up the US iTunes sales chart.

Soundgarden’s classic “Black Hole Sun” is #6 on the chart as of 12:40PM ET.

Audioslave’s “Like A Stone” (#13), Soundgarden’s “Fell On Black Days” (#18), Soundgarden’s “Spoonman” (#22), Temple Of The Dog’s “Hunger Strike” (#29), Soundgarden’s “Outshined” (#37), Audioslave’s “I Am The Highway” (#41), Temple Of The Dog’s “Say Hello 2 Heaven” (#43), and Audioslave’s “Show Me How To Live” (#48) also hold Top 50 positions.

Cornell’s music is also resonating with album buyers; the 20th Anniversary edition of Soundgarden’s “Superunknown” is currently #1 on the album chart.
