ABC Orders New Firefighter Drama Set In “Grey’s Anatomy” Universe

ABC orders a new “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off to series.

Tuesday morning, ABC confirmed that Shondaland series “Scandal” will come to an end next year.

Tuesday afternoon, the network revealed it is adding another Shondaland show to its roster.

ABC has ordered the presently untitled drama straight to series.

Positioned as a “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off, the series “follows a group of heroic firefighters” that work out of a Seattle-area firehouse. “From the captain to the newest recruit, we follow these brave men and women as they risk their lives and their hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock.”

“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and ‘Grey’s’ signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” added Channing Dungey of ABC.

ABC has not revealed the extent to which “Grey’s Anatomy” characters will appear on the show, but the indication is that it will be set in the same universe.
