ABC’s “Quantico” Renewed For Season 3; Josh Safran Stepping Down As Showrunner

“Quantico” will be back next year, but its original showrunner will no longer be at the helm.

The season finale of “Quantico” airs at 10PM EDT Monday night.

Season is the important qualifier because the ABC drama will be back next season.

ABC has renewed the drama for a third season.

While the show delivered tepid live+same-day ratings throughout its second season, it has long been considered a strong bet for renewal. ABC is clearly high on the show — and much of the industry is high on its star Priyanka Chopra.

The renewal does, however, come with a twist. TVLine reports that “Quantico” will be getting a new showrunner.

Josh Safran, who served in that post during the show’s first two seasons, will be stepping down.

He will not be completely leaving the “Quantico” family, however. Safran will remain associated with the show as a consultant.

“I will be consulting with the show moving forward, but I will not be with the show on a day-to-day level,” Safran told TVLine. “I love the show, so I’ll be making sure it stays what it is.”
