Logic on Kimmel | ABC
It appears that Logic has scored his first #1 album in the United States.
According to Buzz Angle and Hits Daily Double, the artist’s “Everybody” generated ~251,333 total US consumption units during its first week of release. The count should be enough for a clear #1 bow on the Billboard 200.
The consumption figure is the sum of pure sales, TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500).
While its TEA and SEA figures were a bit softer than expected, “Everybody” dramatically overperformed on the pure sales front. It sold approximately ~199,310 first-week copies.
Early in the week, Hits was projecting a pure sales figure in the 155-165,000 range. It curiously reduced that projection to 130-140,000 at mid-week.
The projections likely understated the strength of Logic’s direct-to-consumer sales.
Chris Stapleton’s “From A Room, Volume 1,” the week’s other big new release, will take #2 on the Billboard 200 with ~222,420 total units. It generated ~205,729 in pure US sales.
Due Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data will differ slightly from that reported by Buzz Angle and Hits. The discrepancy will not be enough to affect the hierarchy on the Billboard 200 — “Everybody” will be #1, and “From A Room” will be #2.
Chris Stapleton’s lead in the pure sales race, on the other hand, does fall within the possible margin of error. It is thus too early to definitively declare “From A Room” the week’s leader in the traditional sales race.
