NBC Renews “Great News” For Season Two, “The Blacklist” For Season Five

NBC confirms “Great News” and “The Blacklist” for the 2017-18 television season.

Comedy “Great News” has not delivered strong live+same-day ratings in its first three weeks, but its performance did not cause NBC to waver in its support.

The network just ordered a second season of the comedy.

News of the renewal came Thursday evening, right around the time the network formally canceled fellow freshman comedy “Powerless.”

— Earlier Thursday, NBC renewed “The Blacklist” for season five.

Scripted NBC series still awaiting decisions on 2017-18 include “Trial & Error” and “Chicago Justice.”
