Ratings: Chris Pine, LCD Soundsystem “Saturday Night Live” Falls From Last Episode

This weekend’s “SNL” did, however, post a 5-year viewership high for a May broadcast.

Airing for the first time since April 15, this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” endured episode-to-episode losses in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

According to fast official data shared by NBC, Saturday’s “SNL” with host Chris Pine and musical guest LCD Soundsystem drew a 1.87 adults 18-49 rating and 6.919 million overall viewers.

The previous episode, which featured host Jimmy Fallon and musical guest Harry Styles, drew a 2.27 rating and 7.880 million viewers.

NBC nonetheless notes that this weekend’s “SNL” was the most-watched May broadcast since the May 19, 2012 episode with Mick Jagger.

There is a caveat to that statistic, however. Unlike any previous May broadcast, Saturday’s “SNL” aired live on both coasts. An encore then aired in the usual 11:30PM PT timeslot on the west coast.

In addition to those who watched the episode live (or via same-day DVR), the 6.919 million viewership figure accounts for unique viewers of the west coast encore. Previous “SNL” viewership marks would have only accounted for the initial 11:30PM PT airing.
