FOX’s “Pitch” Officially Canceled; Star Kylie Bunbury Comments

“Pitch” will not receive a second season.

On the one hand, the first season of FOX’s baseball-themed drama “Pitch” was a poor ratings performer.

On the other hand, it received solid reviews, cultivated a passionate fanbase, and inspired a “#keepherinthegame” social media campaign.

Unfortunately, the ratings face of the situation won out. FOX officially canceled the drama.

Upon receiving the news, star Kylie Bunbury — whose performance was Ginny Baker won particular raves — commented on Instagram.

“My heart is heavy,” wrote Bunbury in a caption. “Pitch will not be returning. I don’t have some eloquently thought out caption, because I’m still processing it all. Ginny Baker has profoundly changed my life and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to play a role that resonated with so many people.

“I wasn’t ready to let go of Ginny, but more than anything I wasn’t ready to let go of my Pitch family- the cast, crew, creators and writers, thank you for the magic.”

Bunbury also thanked fans for their support, noting that she and her co-workers were moved deeply by their love.
