John Mayer’s “The Search For Everything” Debuts At #2, Tops Early Sales Projection

The complete version of John Mayer’s “The Search For Everything” takes #2 on this week’s album charts.

Update: Billboard confirms that John Mayer’s “The Search For Everything” debuts at #2 on this week’s Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts.

It tops the former thanks to 120,000 in pure first-week US sales. The inclusion of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) yields a consumption total of 132,000 units, which is enough for #2 on the Billboard 200.

The numbers best initial projections, which called for 105-110,000 pure sales and 110-120,000 units.

The complete version of John Mayer’s “The Search For Everything” will debut at #2 on the Billboard Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts.

It will do so with figures that comfortably top initial projections.

According to BuzzAngle Music and Hits Daily Double, “Search” sold approximately 125,000 pure US copies during the April 14-20 tracking week.

The figure tops Hits Daily Double’s projections (105-110K early in the week, 110-120K at midweek).

With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, “Search” generated approximately 137,928 first-week consumption units. That, too, bests the projections (110-120K early in the week, 120-130 at midweek).

The pure sales figure will yield a #2 position on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart, while the consumption sum will be enough for the runner-up slot on the Billboard 200.

Only Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN.” (~362K sales, ~610K total units) posted bigger numbers this week.

Due Sunday afternoon, Billboard’s more authoritative data may differ slightly from that reported by Hits. The discrepancy will not, however, be enough to change the overall outcome. Mayer’s album will be #2 on both charts.
