Ratings: 2017 ACM Awards Show Declines From 2016 Edition

The 2017 ACM Awards ceremony endured a slight year-over-year loss in viewership.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s show averaged a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating and 10.85 million viewers from 8-11PM.

Last year’s show drew a 2.3 rating and 11.20 million.

Both shows faced a “Walking Dead” season finale in the 9-10:30PM territory, but the AMC drama was hotter last year than it was this year.

Last year’s ACM ceremony, moreover, was positioned against the iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Said ceremony was not a ratings winner (it drew fewer than 3 million live+same-day viewers), but it was still a music awards show. There was obviously potential for overlap between its small audience and the typical ACM Awards viewer.

Despite the year-over-year decline, this year’s show still easily ranked as Sunday’s #1 broadcast network show in adults 18-49 and viewership. It will likely take second (below “The Walking Dead”) among all Sunday night programs.

On an hour-by-hour basis:
8PM – 2.1/10.92m
9PM – 2.2/11.32m
10PM – 2.1/10.33m
