“Beauty And The Beast” Leads Friday Box Office, “Power Rangers” Strong In Second Place

En route to a second straight US weekend box office victory, “Beauty And The Beast” predictably ruled the Friday box office.

“Saban’s Power Rangers” still managed to impress in second place, delivering a solid total — and markedly outperforming fellow new releases “Life” and “CHiPs.”

“Beauty And The Beast” added $23.6 million to its haul Friday night. The figure puts the film on track for a second weekend gross in excess of $80 million.

“Power Rangers” followed with $15.0 million Friday. The day one gross suggests “Power Rangers” is on track for over $40 million in opening weekend receipts.

“Life” earned $4.4 million Friday, which was enough for third-place on the daily chart. It may, however, fall behind “Kong: Skull Island” by the end of the weekend.

“Kong” was #4 on Friday with $3.7 million.

“Logan” took #5 with $2.7 million, while “CHiPs” landed in sixth with just $2.6 million in first-day earnings.
