Ratings Update: “Dancing With The Stars” Matches Fall Premiere, Tops Spring Premiere

Update: In our report on the morning ratings, we noted the possibility that numbers for “Dancing With The Stars” would be adjusted up in the finals.

They were.

According to final data posted by Showbuzz, Monday’s season twenty-four premiere drew a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 12.09 million overall viewers.

While the viewership figure was down, the demo performance matches that of the September 2016 opener (2.1, 12.19 million) and exceeds that of the March 2016 season premiere (1.8, 12.46 million).

The finals did not exclusively bring good news for ABC, however. 10PM drama “Quantico” was adjusted down; it ended up with a 0.7 rating and 3.31 million viewer mark in the finals.

The performance still represents a gain from the last episode, which drew a 0.6 and 2.47 million.

Based on preliminary data, Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars” premiere drew a slightly smaller audience than this past fall’s opener.

Its viewership figure also came in below that of last spring’s premiere, although it did beat that episode in the adults 18-49 demographic.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Monday’s 24th “DWTS” opener drew a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 11.94 million viewers.

Airing on September 12, 2016, the season twenty three premiere garnered a 2.1 in the demo and averaged 12.19 million viewers.

The season twenty two premiere, which aired on March 21, 2016, scored a 1.8 in the demo but 12.46 million in viewership.

Of note: Monday’s premiere did post a slight gain in the second hour and may receive an upward adjustment in the final report. That adjustment could be enough to close the gap between the fall premiere.

It was the night’s #1 show in viewers. It took second place (beneath “The Voice”) in the demo.

“Dancing With The Stars” led into “Quantico,” which drew a 0.8 rating and 3.65 million viewers for its first episode in a month.

Airing out of a “Bachelor” episode that fared better in the demo but drew fewer total viewers, the previous “Quantico” scored a 0.6 and 2.47 million.
