Katy Perry’s “Chained To The Rhythm” Posts Weak Pop Radio Callout Scores

Katy Perry’s “Chained To The Rhythm (featuring Skip Marley)” has finally shown up in a Mediabase/Critical Mass Media pop radio callout report, and its numbers are disappointing.

“Chained” is actually one of the worst-scoring songs when it comes to positive reaction, negative reaction, “net positive” reaction and “favorite” ranking.

Per the report, which is based on a survey of pop radio listeners, “Chained To The Rhythm” received a positive rating from 53.2% (#23 out of 24 songs scored), a negative score from 24.7% (5th-worst of the 24 songs) and a rounded “net positive” score of 28.4% (#21 out of 24). Its “favorite” rating of 9.5% is the lowest in this week’s report.

“Chained” is currently #11 on the building/real-time Mediabase pop radio chart and has a good chance of reaching the Top 10 before the end of the week. It is already Top 10 at the hot adult contemporary format.

It will be interesting to see if the callouts (assuming they remain low in the coming weeks, which is not at all a foregone conclusion) have an adverse impact on its long-term trajectory.
