Justin Timberlake opened Sunday’s Academy Awards with a live rendition of his “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” and the performance ignited a big sales gain.
As of press time at 3:30AM ET, the Oscar-nominated song is back up to #5 on the US iTunes sales chart.
The other four Best Original Song nominees also received live performances at Sunday’s Oscars, and they have also begun to rise on the iTunes chart.
— Following the collaborative performance between Auli’i Cravalho and Lin-Manuel Miranda, Cravalho’s rendition of “How Far I’ll Go” is up to #37 on the iTunes sales chart. The Alessia Cara version is up to #69.
— The Ryan Gosling-Emma Stone version of “City Of Stars,” which won the Original Song Oscar, is currently #46 on the US iTunes sales chart. Fellow nominee (and fellow “La La Land” song) “Audition” (by Emma Stone) is #75. John Legend performed the two songs as part of a medley Sunday night; that medley is currently #306 on iTunes.
— Sting & J. Ralph’s “The Empty Chair,” the fifth of this year’s Original Song nominees, is up to #198 at press time. Sting performed the song during Sunday’s show.
