Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” Returns To #1 On US iTunes Sales Chart Following “SNL”

Saturday’s “SNL” posted the show’s best household rating in six years, and some of those viewers evidently liked what they saw on stage.

Following his performance on the show, Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” has returned to #1 on the US iTunes sales chart. It holds that position as of press time at 12:42PM ET.

“Shape Of You” takes over from ZAYN & Taylor Swift’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” which rose to #1 on the combined strength of a discounted price point, the release of “Fifty Shades Darker” and the song’s ongoing momentum.

“Shape Of You,” it is worth noting, was #2 going into “Saturday Night Live” — its trip to the top was not a long one.

Lady Gaga’s “Million Reasons” is currently #3, while Katy Perry’s “Chained To The Rhythm (featuring Skip Marley)” (#4) and Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road” (#5) close the Top 5.

— “Castle On The Hill,” which Sheeran also performed on “SNL,” is currently #30.
