Special Look: Pentatonix Performs During Grammy Awards Rehearsals (Updated)

Update: In a Friday morning press release, the Recording Academy confirmed that Pentatonix would be presenting at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Rehearsal photos seemed to confirm bigger plans for the group. First posted by Headline Planet Friday afternoon, the photos revealed Pentatonix rehearsing what sure looked like an actual performance.

The photos were not misleading. Saturday evening, the group Tweeted confirmation that it would be performing during Sunday’s 59th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony.

The Tweet linked to a USA Today post, which says that the superstar a capella group will perform a “’70s classic.”

The publication did not reveal the specific song, but it did confirm that the group will not be singing “Jolene,” for which Pentatonix and Dolly Parton earned a Grammy nomination.

Friday morning, the Recording Academy identified Pentatonix as a presenter — not a performer — for Sunday’s Grammy Awards ceremony.

The superstar a capella group may still have a musical role on the show.

Pentatonix was spotted performing at Friday’s rehearsal session. The group’s presence at the rehearsal does not necessarily confirm a full-fledged Grammys performance, but it does suggest the group will not simply be reading lines at Sunday’s ceremony.

At the very least, Pentatonix may be singing in conjunction with its “presentation” (as it has done at previous shows).

Official photos from the rehearsal session follow.

To be hosted by James Corden, the 59th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony begins at 8PM ET/5PM PT Sunday.
