Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful” is poised to top this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.
“Scars” received 7,661 spins during the first three days of the January 15-21 tracking period. Up 5.1% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots the song at #1 on the building chart.
Maroon 5’s “Don’t Wanna Know (featuring Kendrick Lamar),” which topped last week’s chart, is #2 on the building chart. It is not too far behind — its spin count after three days is 7,589 — but Cara’s tune has a clear momentum advantage. Whereas “Scars” is up 5.1% over last week, “Don’t Wanna Know” is up just 0.8%.
Should “Scars To Your Beautiful” indeed hold for #1, it will become the singer-songwriter’s second pop radio chart-topper. She previously reached the format’s summit with her breakthrough single “Here.”
