“Rogue One” Edges “Hidden Figures” To Retain Weekend Box Office Crown; “Underworld” Takes #4

A very tight US weekend box office race lands in favor of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

According to studio estimates, the film earned $22.0 million at the box office the weekend. The count, which brings the film’s cume to $477.3 million, allows it to hold off “Hidden Figures.”

That film earned $21.8 million in its first weekend of wide availability (cume now $24.8 million).

Down one place, “Sing” takes #3 with $19.6 million (cume now $213.4 million). “Underworld: Blood Wars” debuts at #4 with $13.1 million, while “La La Land” rises two spots to #5 on the strength of its $10.0 million (cume now $51.7 million).
