Megyn Kelly Signs With NBC News, Set To Depart FOX

The face of FOX News’ 2016 election coverage (and, arguably, the cable news network’s most popular personality) is leaving the network.

News broke Tuesday that Megyn Kelly will be heading to NBC News.

As part of her multi-year deal, Kelly will host a one-hour daytime program that “she will develop closely with NBC News colleagues.” It will air Monday-Friday at a time to be confirmed.

She will also anchor a Sunday evening newsmagazine, while becoming “an important contributor to NBC’s breaking news coverage as well as the network’s political and special events coverage.”

“Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career” said NBCU News chair Andrew Lack. “She’s demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her.”

“While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge,” added Kelly in a statement on Facebook. “I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters. More to come soon.”

FOX has reported the departure but not yet offered an official press statement.
