First Look: FOX’s “24: Legacy” Premieres On Super Bowl Sunday
Billed as the “next evolution” of “24,” FOX’s new “24: Legacy” premieres this February.
The two-night premiere will begin after the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 5 and conclude on Monday, February 6. Subsequent episodes will air on Monday nights.
Though technically positioned as a separate series (rather than as a new season), “24: Legacy” will undoubtedly be familiar to fans of the Emmy-winning FOX series. It adheres to the “real-time” drama format. It features CTU — and we quickly learn that one of the new analysts has a connection to “24” character Edgar Stiles (other connections will emerge in future episodes). It features the same emphasis on an impending terrorist attack — with the same focus on multiple story threads that seem certain to overlap.
The main difference? Kiefer Sutherland’s iconic Jack Bauer is not the central protagonist. That honor instead belongs to Corey Hawkins’ Eric Carter.
Carter was part of an army squad that killed terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid; due to the potential fallout, Carter and his fellow rangers were put into witness protection. Terrorists somehow learn of their new identities and locations, however, and begin killing them in the present (while in pursuit of an item supposedly taken from Bin-Khalid’s compound). Carter, with help from former CTU director (and potential First Lady to Senator John Donovan) Rebecca Ingram (Miranda Otto), works to uncover who may have leaked the identities and what future attacks they may have planned.
In advance of the 2/5 premiere, FOX shared a list of series regulars and photos from the premiere:
