USA Network’s “Shooter” Renewed For Season Two

A solid performer through five episodes, USA Network’s “Shooter” has officially earned a second season.

The cable network made the news official in a Monday afternoon announcement.

“John Hlavin and the team behind SHOOTER have delivered a compelling action thriller that consistently engages a strong and loyal audience,” said Chris McCumber, president of entertainment networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “We look forward to partnering once again with Paramount Television and Universal Cable Productions as we follow Bob Lee into his next chapter.”

An adaptation of the movie, the “Shooter” series stars Ryan Phillippe in the Mark Wahlberg role. Other regulars include Omar Epps, Shantel VanSanten, Eddie McClintock, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson.

On a live+7 basis, its first four episodes averaged 976,000 adults 18-49 and 2.6 million total viewers.

It is also pairing decently with WWE SmackDown! Live; together, the shows position USA Network as the top primetime, ad-supported cable channel on Tuesday nights.

The first season finale will air on January 17. A premiere date for season two has not yet been confirmed.
