Album Sales

Sales Projections Emerge For Rolling Stones, Childish Gambino, Grace VanderWaal, Kane Brown, John Legend Albums

On track for just under 200,000 pure opening week sales, “The Hamilton Mixtape” is the week’s hottest new release in the US.

It is not, however, the only notable new release.

The Rolling Stones, Childish Gambino, Grace VanderWaal, Kane Brown, and John Legend all released albums this week, and all are on the radar from a sales standpoint.

According to Hits Daily Double, The Stones’ “Blue & Lonesome” is currently on track to sell 85-95,000 pure US copies this week.

Childish Gambino’s “Awaken, My Love!” is tracking just behind. Hits expects the album to sell 70-80,000 pure US copies.

Grace VanderWaal’s “Perfectly Imperfect” EP should move 50-60,000 pure sales this week, while Kane Brown’s self-titled LP is on track for 38-43,000. John Legend’s new “Darkness And Light” should follow with 30-35,000 in pure sales.

It is worth noting that Hits’ early sales projections have not been as accurate as usual in recent weeks; the unpredictability of holiday shopping could further impact the accuracy. That said, the aforementioned figures provide a reasonably valid window into how the albums are tracking.

Pure sales determines placement on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart. Total consumption (album sales + track sales/10 + track streams/1500) determines the Billboard 200 hierarchy; meaningful track sales and streaming projections are not yet available.
