“Moana” Wins Friday Box Office, “Incarnate” Barely Registers

With no major new releases in the market, “Moana” was able to win a second straight Friday US box office race.

The film added $6.4 million to its total Friday. Enough for #1 on the daily chart, the tally puts “Moana” on pace to win the weekend box office (especially since it will receive a huge lift from Saturday matinees).

The closest thing to a big new release is “Incarnate,” which opened on just over 1700 screens. The low-budget film barely registered, earning just over $900K on opening day. It was Friday’s #9 film.

“Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” was #2 Friday with $5.0 million, while “Allied” grabbed #3 on the strength of $2.2 million. “Arrival” (#4, $2.1 million) and “Doctor Strange” (#5, $1.8 million) completed the Top 5.
