The Chainsmokers’ “Closer (featuring Halsey),” which spent seven weeks atop the Mediabase pop radio chart (and may be on track for an eighth week), is on track to reach #1 at another format.
“Closer” is pacing for the top spot on this week’s hot adult contemporary airplay chart.
The smash hit received 4,474 spins during the first five days of the November 13-19 tracking week. The count positions “Closer” at #1 on Mediabase’s building chart.
“Closer” only has a narrow lead over Shawn Mendes’ building #2 “Treat You Better” (4,443), but it seems to have more momentum. “Closer” is up 0.9% from the same time last week, while “Treat You Better” is down 4.3%.
The Mendes tune spent the past six weeks at #1.
“Closer” is meanwhile in a tight race with DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You (featuring Justin Bieber)” for #1 at the pop format.
