The Voice’s Josh Halverson Rockets Into Top 30 On iTunes Sales Chart With “Whiskey And You”

The live voting — and opportunity for iTunes bonuses — has not yet begun.

That reality is not, however, stopping music fans from purchasing one of Monday’s standout “The Voice” performances.

Only four hours have passed since the conclusion of the east coast broadcast, and Josh Halverson’s “Whiskey And You” is already in the Top 30 on the US iTunes sales chart.

The song is #26 as of 2AM ET.

Written by Chris Stapleton and Lee Thomas Miller, “Whiskey And You” appeared on Tim McGraw’s 2007 album “Let It Go.” Stapleton’s own version of the song appears on his 2015 album “Traveller.”

Halverson’s performance has also ignited interest in the Stapleton and McGraw recordings. Stapleton’s rendition is presently #85 on iTunes, while McGraw’s version is #136.

Halverson performed “Whiskey And You” as part of the final Knockout Round showdown. Halverson actually lost his matchup to fellow Team Miley member Aaron Gibson, but Alicia Keys “stole” Halverson for her team. He will compete as part of next week’s live round.
