Sting Set To Perform, Receive Merit Award At 2016 AMAs

A second name has been added to the 2016 American Music Awards lineup.

Joining Bruno Mars on the bill will be music industry veteran Sting.

In addition to performing, Sting will receive the “American Music Award of Merit” at the November 20 ceremony.

The merit award is “given to artists who have made truly exceptional contributions to the music industry,” notes the official dcp press release.

Previous recipients include Annie Lennox, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, Gloria Estefan, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, Prince and Frank Sinatra.

ABC’s 11/20 AMAs broadcast airs at 8PM ET.
